A Thermoformer has a roll of film ( Base Web ) that the machine uses to automatically forms a tray , the thickness of the tray can either be semi rigid for Modified atmosphere products or can be thin to allow the final product to be vacuum sealed,
These trays / pouches are all joined together and as they index forward there is a loading area in which operators or automatic fillers fill the trays with the required products.
The filled tray passes into a sealing section where the air is removed and if required replaced with a modified atmosphere. After sealing the machine automatically seperates the packs into individual trays / pouches
